Kandarpada


Iss studio ka aim tha ki hum Kandarpada area ko study karke yaha ke logo ke networks ko samjhe, unki life and unke gharo ka type samjhe taaki hum is area ka bhavishya me kya hoga woh speculate kar sake. Humne yaha ke rehnenwale logon se baat karke unki stories collect ki or unke future aspirations khudke ghar se related janne ki koshish ki.


Iss drawing ka purpose tha ki yeh google maps se alag rahe kyuki ek satellite image se hum yaha ki activities, logon ka space ko use karne ka tareeka, yaha ka terrain; yeh sab nahi samajh sakte and is drawing ke zariye se humne yeh area ko ek alag nazare se banaya jaha hum idhar ka house type, floodplains, street edge conditions par focus kar sake.




Humne Kandarpada ke logon ke beech ke rishte, mostly landownership ko dhyaan se note down karke ek network map banaya.




FUTURE 2027


Humne Kandarpada me agle 5 saalo me kya hone wala hai woh idhar rehne wale logon se baat karke unke opinions and speculations ko collect kiya. River development and cleaning, Link Road se Kandarpada tak ek naya rasta, Laxman Mhatre Road ka widening, residential buildings banna, chawls ka increment hone, etc., jaisi cheeze yaha hone lagegi.




FUTURE 2034


Government ne DP plan 2034 ka banaya hai and uski madad lete hue aur hume kya lagta hai usko compile karke humne yeh drawing banaya jo 2034 me Kandarpada ka fabric kaisa banega usse explain karta hai. Yaha ek naya school banne wala hai and usse judta hua ek naya rasta, Mhatre Chawl redevelopment me ja sakti hai and uski jagah ek residential building construct karenge. Agar yaha buildings aayegi toh amenities jaise - garben, mall, community spaces; banne lagegi. Yaha logon ka influx hoga kyuki raste ban jayenge and chawl bhi concretize hone lagegi.




FUTURES 2050


Ab based on 2034 ke changes humne agla stage jo saal 2050 ka hai, waha kya hoga yeh sochne ki koshish ki hai. Iss speculation mein humara focus development ke consequences ka tha jaha logon ke purane networks disrupt ho jayenge and naye networks banne lagenge. Humne speculate kiya ki Kandarpada Talav bhi concretize ho jayega aas paas buildings banne ki wajah se. River develop hone se waha new shops and activities start ho sakti hai. Yaha ka overall fabric shift hone lagega kyuki chawl type and bungalow type ki jagah high rise buildings banne lagegi.

Ab humare saare speculations par based humne ek manifesto tayyar kiya jispe humne woh areas mark kiye jaha development ho sakta hai ya uski zaroorat hai. Log kya problems face karte hai, jaise flooding ki wajah se nuksan, light and hawa ghar me na aana, hygiene and sanitation aur unki zaroorate jaise bathroom, bahaar ikathe hone ke liye khuli jagah ko iss manifesto me include kiya hai. Is basis par humne alag alag areas and aims ko select kiya jaise overall fabric ko dekhna, road widening agar hone wali hai toh woh kaise hoga, Patil chawl me flooding hota hai toh woh kaise develop hoga and talav ke edge par kya aayega.


KANDARPADA TALAV


Talav ke edge par humne 5 - 6 sections liye aur humne interventions banaye, jo talav aur logon ka interaction badhaye.


Chapel ke road side par ek gate hai, jaha entry karke hi app talav ko access kar sakte ho. Udar humne uss compound wall ko open up karke ek seating space banaya, jisse talav ke saath ek direct visual connect ho aur log baith kar socialize kar sake.


Mandir ke piche se ek chhota opening hai, uss taraf se talav ke andar ek floating deck banaya hai which connects to a jetty, jaha se floating vegetation ko access karke use maintain kar sake.

Soft edge pe abhi Jo informal settlements hai, unke liye humne lake ke andar ek extended semi-open space banaya, jo step down karke gharke liye ek chhota plantation ki jagah ban jaye, so uske liye 2 ghar ke beech me jo jagah hai, waha humne stepped farming ko introduce kiya. Yeh process ko karne ke liye talav ka paani use hoga, which will bring interdepency towards the pond.

Ek dead end ko humne revive karke market introduce kiya hai, jaha pe kuch saal me ek road extend hoga.




LAXMAN MHATRE ROAD


Patrick Geddes ki conservative surgery ke upayog se humne stakeholders aur government ke beech ek negotiation shuru karne ka humne koshish kiya. Humne isse ek tool ke roop mein dekha. Humne 2 jagahon par interventions kiye, jo Lakshman Mhatre Road par hai. Method ke hisaab se humne quality, consent aur purpose jaise factors ke aadhaar par sadak ke saath jo built forms hai unhe humne categorize kiya. Humne stakeholders ki akanksha ko dhyaan mein rakha. Light, ventilation aur sanitation jaise factors par bhi vichaar kiya gaya hai.



Iss cluster ke liye humne dukan plus ghar ke type ko rethink karne ki koshish ki hai. Yaha ka road abhi 5 metre ka hai, lekin proposed road widening ke baad 18 metre ka ho jayega, jisse bohot logon ki dukane aur ghar hut sakti hai. Lekin humne socha ki agar road 9 metre tak widen kare and phir jo ghar hut rahe hai unko peeche wale gharon ka consent lekar agar increment kare toh what will now be the new typology of the builtform? Humne ground floor dukaano ke liye rakha and uske upar balcony extend ki hai first floor par taaki street interaction maintained rahe. Ek unit me 2 families ko accomodate kiya hai and unki dukaano se bhi ghar ka acess banaya hua hai. Shared terraces bhi introduce kiye hue hai, taaki ghar bahar bhi extend ho sake and unke ghar mein light and ventilation ka problem na aaye.




Doosre type ke liye humne ghar ka access street se diya hai and ek under construction house tha usko extend karke ek floor badhakar waha 2 families ka ek unit banakar accomodate kiya hua hai. Iss type me humne terraces add kiye hai, 2 floors tak increment kiya hua hai.




PATIL CHAWL


Hum, as a start, Patil Chawl pe hi focus kar rahe hai kyuki yeh Kandarpada ka lowest point hai. Lowest point hone ki wajah se yaha par saalana flooding, yani pani bharjane ka problem hota hai. Yeh majorly typical chawl ke type ki tarah banaya hai. 36 kholiya chipak-chipake banaye hai with teen galiya running in-between them. Ek badi gully hai jisse direct road jata hai, aur do patli gulliyan gharon ke entries ke liye. Sab ghar chipak-chipak ke hone ke karan yaha par light aur hawa ka bohot issue hota hai.





Jab yaha humne jaakar residents se baat ki, toh unki aisi icchha thi ki unko building me jaakar rehna hai. They wanted redevelopment. So our proposal tries to present an alternative, humara proposal aapko ek alag sujhaav deni ki koshish me banaya hai.

Humne humara process start kiya samajhne se ki abhi ka Patil Chawl kaisa hai. Waha ke abhi ke conditions kya hai? Kya achha hai jo hum humare proposal me rakh sake aur kya hume change karna chahiye for better living conditions.


Toh yeh Patil Chawl ka map hai. Humne pata kiya ki konse ghar band hai, konse abandoned hai jaha pe koi nahi rehta. Then humne pata kiya ki konse ghar 'G', yane ground, aur konse 'G+1', yane ground plus first floor ke hai.












Humne humare liye kuch logic set kar liye hai jisse hum yeh process ko start karenge:

  1. Sab abandoned gharon ko nikal dena hai.

  2. Unn abandoned gharon ki jagah par kuch gharon ko relocate karna. Is tarah se galliyon ke side me pockets ban jayegi. Khuli jagah jaha pe log baith sake, baate kar sake, jaha par unke windows khulke unke ghar me light aur hawa aa sake.

  3. Stacking, ek ghar ko dusre ghar ke upar laga sakte hai.

  4. Cut and paste. Ek ghar ko cut karke utna hi hissa upar laga sakte hai, jisko external staircase se connect kar sakte hai.

  5. Aur last, sab gharon ki entries G aur G+1 se hi karna. Isse unka road se connection katte na.



So hum propose kar rahe hai ki yeh orange marked houses ko hum reallocate karenge uss hi chawl me. Inko rellocate karke humne yeh gully ke aaju-baju open spaces banaye hai. Yeh open spaces monsoon season me flood ka paani collect karne me bhi useful ho sakte hai (flood detention zones).


Humne ek ghar ko detail kiya hai jisse dusre gharon ko kaise banaya ja sakta hai yeh samaj me aata hai. Toh yeh ghar 5.5×6.7 meters ka ghar hai joh ki sirf ground floor ka hai. Hum iss ghar ke do hisse karke ek hisse ko baju ke ghar pe stack kar sakte hai. Dono hisson ka connection ek seendi se hota hai joh ghar ke bahar hai. Aise ghar ke don sections karne se ek common terrace space banta hai joh alag alag uses me kaam aa sakta hai. Yeh saare open common terrace spaces bhot hi multi-functional hai. Yeh garden bhi ban sakta hai aur tution classes bhi. Yeh openings se bas relocated houses ko hi faida nahi but also existing houses ko bhi light and ventilation mil sakta hai, jisse pura chawl activate aur lively ban jata hai.
